POLITICALLY CORRECT EDUCATION

Norm Weatherby has a good summary of politically correct education in American public schools under three headings:

1. Integration:-

Starting as a wonderful idea it quickly degenerated into a catastrophe for education. Enforced at the point of the bayonet (literally) it brought into direct confrontation poorly educated, low class blacks with middle class American kids. The clash was lethal.

Listed as the first problem was black thuggery/violence. Simply put, when your child is beaten up by blacks on the school yard every day, is robbed of his lunch money and is terrified to go to school parents started removing their kids from public schools.

Then there was the classroom problem of poor black language skills, offensive black culture, and classroom profanity and cursing of students and teachers. Shocked, white middle class America started fleeing to the suburbs for their lives. The skin color of the students was not the problem. White parents just did not want to expose their children to what they considered, rightly so, as immoral, low class culture and behaviors.

2. Mainstreaming:

It was decided by various courts that to have special schools for the medically and mentally disabled was discrimatory. Likewise reform schools for what was called the "behavior challenged" was nixed. The new wave thought was that every kid, regardless of suitability, should be in any classroom. Moreover it was decided that it was the teachers job to make it work. Right. This was a disaster.

One child in the classroom would be strapped in a wheelchair, having intermittant screaming fits while the rest of the children cringed in confusion and fear. The teacher would not only have to calm the child but administer medication, wheel him out to change a diaper (even in high school), etc. At the same time in the same classroom, a "behavior challenged" child would be slamming a book into another screaming child's head, pushing over desks, throwing things and daring the teacher to stop him.

Needless to say the principal was no help. They were terrified of poor performance reports, lawsuits, agressive parents, non-supportive school boards and other things. Such disruptive children were promptly returned to class. Parents found about all of this real quick and even more parents fled what they labeled as "the nightmare."

3. Litigation Cancelling Discipline:

This was probably the final shot in the head for public schools. Angry minority parents ( and they seemed to white parent to always be angry) found they could terrify and cow school boards and princilpals by suing them.

Charges of "racism" abounded. Every time a white teacher or administrator tried to discipline a black child for anything, however grevious, charges of "Racism", "White folk beating the slaves again", and assorted racial improprities were alleged. The courts under the influence of liberal pressures and seemingly collective "white guilt" rendered verdict after verdit against the white "transgressors". Discipline deteriorated into chaos.

The lesson was learned very quickly indeed. White parents gave up all hope and those who could afford to finished the migration to suburbs and white schools.

In the Dallas Texas Independent School Distict today the white student population is about 6%.
