SHAKESPEARE IS NOT P.C.

"P.C. inanities marred the annual conference of the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America, according to an Associated Press article today. Jim Volz, a former manager of a Shakespeare festival, said "ethnic sensitivities" were hindering performances of some of the playwright's best-known works. He said a corporate sponsor told him she "just loved Shakespeare but that I had to understand that there were two plays that we simply couldn't do - ever - 'Othello' and 'The Merchant of Venice.'" See here and here. (Via King of Fools)
