POLITICALLY CORRECT HATE SPEECH

‘‘Go to hell, white man."
This hateful and un-Christian outburst came in the midst of a "sermon" by Reverend Butts damning Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and other New York City leaders who had appealed for help in maintaining peace following the acquittal of four white police officers in the shooting death of African immigrant Amadou Diallo.

According to the New York Post, Reverend Butts had charged: "There is an evil that permeates City Hall." "Though I cannot put the blame of the shooting directly in [Giuliani’s] hands — he did not pull the trigger — but the climate of the city has been set by the uncaring, unsympathetic mayor," said Butts. "What you are doing, Rudy Giuliani, is reinforcing white supremacy in New York City." Then the caustic cleric told his Abyssinian congregation that he had been asked by city "leaders" to help maintain calm after the verdict had been handed down (by a jury that included four African Americans, including the jury forewoman). His response was to throw gasoline on the fire. Butts stated: "You want us to remain the status quo. Go to hell, white man."

Were there howls of outrage from the media moralists and the self-appointed "hate speech" commissars? You know there weren’t. Aside from an editorial by the New York Post calling for Butts to be fired from his state university position, nary a word was heard.
